hiking facts

For those interested in an exciting outdoor adventure in the cooler weather, winter camping may be the choice for you. Don't add too many items that add to the weight of the backpack or you will tire out quickly.

A long hike places a lot of stress on your ankles and feet which is transmitted through your legs. Colorado is famous for climbing adventures because of the thousands of crags and cliffs that adorn Colorado's peaks and plateaus. Strawberries and bananas are also not good portable foods.

Always wear woolen socks to keep the feet dry and comfortable. You will need to be able to spend long hours walking, without producing chafing or blisters. During fire-hazard periods and dry seasons, use portable stoves rather than campfires.

Whether camping as a family or having the kids go to a summer camp, it s a great way to learn about nature and the outdoors. Campfire cooking will bring everyone together for an enjoyable evening of storytelling and great food.
